work on the laser industry, I have come across many complaints from customers around the world about shoddy green lasers pointers. To help customers understand the dangers of shoddy and clear some misunderstandings, we have the following information about the shoddy lasers.
Infrared (IR) light
Green light (wavelength of 532nm) is the most visible color to the human eye and any green laser you buy should be given the green light and only green light. Our Viper laser pointers and Hulk portable lasers for example only give the green light of 532nm. Expert lasers still give the green light and dangerous infrared (IR) light. Infrared light can not be seen by the human eye, so the beam from these shoddy laser pointers is not as bright as it would be very dangerous.
You May be wondering how shoddy laser pointer can have a power of 200mW but be less bright than 55mW Viper laser pointer. Here's the trick. As we just said, these laser pointers give a lot of infrared light that you can not see what makes them less shiny. meters, however, can not distinguish between green light and infrared light. Power of 200mW shoddy laser pointer will normally be made up of mostly infrared light. So if you have a high powered laser pointer that is not bright, it is most likely giving out lots of dangerous IR so please use it with extreme care, or better yet, destroy it.
Poor quality cases / shells
Another problem with shoddy laser pointers is your case or shell. Their shell usually consists of a normal low quality metal or even plastic. high powered DPSS laser module creates a lot of heat to be dissipated by the shell. If the shell is made of poor quality materials, the heat from the laser can not be released and will quickly build up. This heat build up will cause it to burn up completely destroying laser. shell for both the Viper laser pointers and Hulk portable lasers are made of special metal alloy that is very effective in dissipating heat and protecting the laser diode. When a 95mW Viper laser pointer has worked for 60 seconds, your hands can feel the heat released from the shell as the laser is kept cool.
Pot modding
Many shoddy lasers are only designed for low power, such as 5 or 10mW. These lasers have the power from the battery to LEDs driven to give a stronger beam. The problem with modding these lasers is that LEDs, their shell, lens, crystal, and even the on / off switch is not designed for higher power and temperature. Most of the changes lasers will burn out and be completely useless in a few days, often only a few hours. A simple analogy is placing a 200W light globe in the light that is only designed to handle 25W. light can work, but it will be long before the frame warps, melts and light installation was destroyed.
Component Quality
